Tone on Tone Series

I was inspired to do this series to see how texture and translucency affected color. By using a monochromatic pallet, I was able to get more depth in each piece by utilizing different finishes. Pearls glow, faceted stones and beads sparkle and sometimes create prisms, matte stones and beads create softness, and the inherent qualities of each stone add their own textural quality. An example of the latter is "sunstone" which has a fiery sparkle in the depths of it's variegated orange colors.
